Fishing and Hunting are the oldest and most practiced skills of mankind.  Next is the preparation of our catch and sharing the bounty with our family and friends.  While many may call these hobbies, they are part of our rights, culture and history that we need to preserve and pass these traditions to our children.  We have a responsibility to share with our children the joys of the great outdoors, respect for Mother Nature and what she shares with us.

Wilderness Recipes was born from the frustration of fighting what some call progress.  Many today have not experienced the pleasures of stalking wild game in the forest and fields, or the peacefulness of fishing on the lake in the early morning.  There are many that don't even cook their food, let alone attempt to hunt or fish for it.  These age old skills, pleasures and wholesomeness are being replaced by video games, television and shopping malls for many of the population.

As I was growing up, every "standard" small town had a gas station, grocery store and a sport shop close by.  In some places it was all in the same building.  I was enamored, as all my friends were with the seemingly endless selection of hunting and fishing gear available.  The section that I always found time for was the area where all the wild game cooking gear was located.  They had meat grinders, sausage stuffers, smokers, knives, sausage casings, dehydrators, spices and more.  I would spend hours looking through the books that were available on how to make beef jerky, cook venison, make sausage, fillet fish and smoke food.  I was always amazed at how many venison recipes there were to make venison sausage, steaks, roasts, chops, jerky and more.

To help preserve those memories I established Wilderness Recipes.  For me it has a side benefit that I also get to share this with my children.  It is my aim to create the largest repository of free recipes for wild game in the world.  In addition, we also offer much of the gear and supplies you need to prepare your wild game for yourself, your family and your friends.  Wilderness Recipes has a wide selection of manual and electric meat grinders, sausage stuffers, dehydrators, food smokers, sausage casings, spices and more, to help you become a gourmet cook of wild game and hopefully pass this skill along to your family and friends.

I invite you to join our Wilderness Recipes family.  All the recipes, stories, news, rants and other drivel on Wilderness Recipes is absolutely free.  I want to share them with you.  All I ask is you register by clicking HERE or follow the "Create an account" link in the left column of this page.  This will get you free access to the ever growing library of recipes we are building.  When I say we, I mean all of us.  When you register and sign in you can also submit your favorite recipes, comments and thoughts, sharing with the rest of us that also appreciate what Mother Nature and our Country provides for us.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you stay awhile.  I hope you come back often and bring your friends with you.
